How to Record & Export Your Video for Feedback (Small File Size, Great Audio)

Simple recording and export steps to keep your file under the limit without sacrificing vocal detail.

Quick checklist (small file, clear audio)

  • 1080p
  • 30fps
  • H.264 (Most Compatible)
  • HDR off
  • Trim first, then export

iPhone steps (fast + reliable)

  1. Settings → Camera → Record Video → 1080p at 30 fps
  2. Settings → Camera → Formats → Most Compatible
  3. Settings → Camera → HDR Video → Off (if available)
  4. Record in good light, then trim in Photos
  5. Share → Save to Files (or export)

Android steps (most devices)

  • Open Camera → Settings
  • Set 1080p and 30fps
  • Choose Standard quality (avoid HDR or "High")
  • Record, trim in Gallery, then export/share as a normal video

Mac export (QuickTime + optional HandBrake)

QuickTime Player

  1. Open your video
  2. File → Export As → 1080p

Optional: HandBrake

  • Preset: Fast 1080p30
  • Video: H.264, 8–12 Mbps
  • Audio: AAC 160 kbps

Windows export (Clipchamp + optional HandBrake)

Clipchamp

  • Export → 1080p
  • Standard quality

Optional: HandBrake

  • Preset: Fast 1080p30
  • Video: H.264, 8–12 Mbps
  • Audio: AAC 160 kbps

Audio tips (clear, not harsh)

  • Quiet room, soft surfaces if possible
  • Phone 1–2m away, avoid chest-level placement
  • Watch for clipping on loud notes
  • Use headphones on playback to check clarity

Why is my file huge?

  • 4K or 60fps recording
  • HDR on
  • High bitrate export
  • No trimming before export

If your file is still too large, export again at 1080p/30fps with H.264 and a lower bitrate (8–12 Mbps). This keeps your vocal detail while staying inside the upload limit.
